I’m Julissa Yasmeen Ramirez, a filmmaker and artist born and based in New York City. As a queer woman and storyteller, my work is deeply rooted in personal connection—how we form it, how we lose it, and the details we often overlook.
In addition to creating my own work, I’ve had the privilege of assisting other directors on set, learning from their processes and honing my craft. I have worked as the assistant to directors, producers, and showrunners. In addition to filmmaking, I’ve been a competitive roller derby athlete and am now an avid rock climber. My work reflects an ongoing journey—an unfolding exploration of identity, intimacy, and the contradictions of human connection.
